So much for family friendly Florida…
The insiders and politicians who read this blog are intimately aware of the anti-casino crusade, led by Disney, to oppose “the massive expansion of gambling that would come from legalizing megacasinos.”
However, HelloFLA’s omnipresent observers have noticed that the family friendly company is supporting a “Gaming Official” for House District 53. Randy Fine, managing director of a Nevada-based gambling consulting firm, posted the check to his campaign Facebook account and announced the support of the biggest opponent of his profession in the state: The Magic Kingdom
Fine’s resume includes stints as CEO of both Detroit’s Greektown Casino-Hotel and Santa Fe, New Mexico’s Buffalo Thunder Casino, and was the corporate vice president for Harrah’s 40,000 slot machine operations.
(Editor’s note: A previoius version of this story speculated on Commissioner Andy Anderson’s feelings about this contribution as an aside. A comment from our readers noted that Andy Anderson dropped out of the race.)
This contribution is a clear sign that Disney feels less threatened by casinos than they did just one short year ago.
