The Hipocrisy of Kurt Kelly

Hello FLA/ August 29, 2015/ Florida Politics

Kurt Kelly, a former State Representative and Marion County State Committeeman apparently fumed privately for three months about the gay adoption bill that passed the legislature last session, before he irrationally exploded this weekend at John Stenberger of the Florida Family Policy Council for “giving the Republican Legislature and Governor a pass” on the issue.

Sources tell me Kelly tried to rain down fire and brimstone on Stenberger at the RPOF quarterly meeting in a rant that blamed the GOP for Florida’s moral decline.

For the record, Mr. Stemberger has been nothing but consistent.  It was widely reported at the time that he “bashed Republicans in the House who supported the legislation.

Yet Kelly HIMSELF had no problem sponsoring legislation that was essentially an economic development incentive program to attract gambling vendors to our state!

The hypocrisy is unbelievable and undeniable.

In 2009, then Representative Kurt Kelly sponsored HB 1103.  Written into the bill was specific “legislative intent” that said it was his intent “… to encourage thoroughbred breeding and training operations to locate in this state.
To attract such operations, it is appropriate to provide greater flexibility to thoroughbred industry participants in this state…” his bill continued.
If a special program to attract and expand gambling isn’t contributing to our state’s moral decline, I don’t know what is.
Before Mr. Kelly decides to blame anybody else for the moral decay of society, perhaps he should take a long, hard look in the mirror.
